These bookmarks are a great addition to your classroom as they help to support students to use fluency and decoding strategies when reading independently.

I have introduced these 'friends' with my decoding and fluency posters throughout shared reading by referring to them when 'tricky' words arise - encouraging students to determine which creature will help us to decode the word. Students then refer to their own bookmark when reading on their own.
