"This was a perfect tutorial activity for my students who struggle with breaking down the prompt. This allowed me to see where the confusion was in the process. "

Description
Perfect for review before the writing portion of state tests such as STAAR, TCAP, TNREADY, & PARCC. One of the biggest struggles for my middle school students was in deconstructing the writing prompt; they didn't know how to address the prompt or figure out which type of essay it was asking them to write. Therefore, I created this quick review worksheet to help them practice the skills needed for deconstructing writing prompt. This worksheet has a quick notes section, and 6 sample prompts to tackle. I also included a sample lesson plan for the teacher.
**Note: This is not a writing assignment. It is only sample writing prompts for students to practice deconstructing.

Students had an ahah! moment when we started looking at writing prompts via the "Do | What" method.
Good resource to help students break apart a prompt and make sure they answer all parts.
Thanks for sharing!
Great for reviewing the different writing types for TNReady testing last year.
Great resource! Thank you!
