Description

This resource offers a differentiated assignment for students to show their comprehension of the text and use of persuasive and descriptive language. My students typically love this assignment, and it is one of their favorites that they tend to mention at the end of the year. There are three assignment options, and I sometimes allow students to work in pairs. Easy to use rubrics are also provides for all three options.

Important Note: I tell students to make the cruise appealing. In other words, don't tell your passengers that Scylla, Charybdis, the Cyclops, the Sirens, the Laestrygonians, etc. will kill them. I mention, maybe Charybdis is a artificial simulation, the cyclops cave is a fun escape game, or the Sirens sing enchanting music that is very relaxing. I even tell my students they came get pictures of beautiful and exotic islands and claim they are these destinations (Troy, Ithaca; etc).
