Description

This bundle brings together 7 differentiated open-ended math projects for 4th grade and 5th grade students — each one a low floor high ceiling real-world problem solving task available at two levels of challenge. This isn't a worksheet collection. It's a thinking collection.

Save up to 30% compared to purchasing individually.

Each project puts students in a real situation — managing a budget, planning a meal, making strategic decisions — and asks them to figure out what to do, show their work, and defend their thinking in writing. Across all 7 projects, students apply money skills, elapsed time, fractions, multiplication, and multi-step problem solving in contexts that actually engage them.

What Makes This Different:

Regular word problems give students a question and expect one answer. These projects give students real-world situations and ask them to figure out what to do — then defend their thinking in writing. The math is rigorous. The engagement is real. (Note: because these are true open-ended tasks, there is no single answer key for the main projects — that's intentional.)

Each Project Includes:

  • "Math by the Numbers" data sheet in color, black and white, and digital versions — at two levels so you can use it with your whole class without anyone being left out or unchallenged
  • All reproducible student pages needed to tackle the task — including work space and recording sheets
  • Open-ended challenge with written justification built in
  • Follow-up reflection prompts
  • Three leveled practice pages (two levels each, answer keys included)
  • Discussion starters to deepen math talk
  • Extension ideas for students who want to go further
  • Digital access!

How Teachers Use These:

  • Whole-class problem solving with built-in differentiation
  • Math workshop or centers
  • Small group enrichment or TAG projects
  • Fast finisher work
  • Between-unit review
  • Sub plans

Also a strong fit for advanced 3rd grade students.

Why Teachers Love This Bundle:

  • Same task, two levels — your whole class works together without anyone feeling singled out
  • Students are talking, writing, collaborating, and actually thinking about math
  • No prep beyond printing — everything is ready to go
  • Enough variety to use across the entire school year
  • Students keep asking to do the next one
  • Huge savings compared to buying individually

What are teachers saying?

"My students were highly engaged and asked each day if they would be able to continue working on their projects!"

"My math program has improved so much by using project based learning. My students love working on these units and they are so proud of their efforts. So happy I bought this bundle."

"This resource has everything. My school is big this year on math tasks. This is math problems to do with everyday life that make your students think outside the box. This resource does just that. My students really enjoyed working on this and working together to solve. It uses all types of math and the all the students figure out the outcome differently. That's what I really like about it."
