Description

Multiplication Representations can be difficult for some students to grasp, using interactive notes and task cards could be helpful. This resources uses 4 ways to represent multiplication by introducing: strip diagrams, number lines, arrays, and equal groups to help students understand the different ways to represent multiplication.

This resource includes:

  • Interactive Notes Page for multiplication representations
  • 8 Two part question test format - arrays, equal groups, number line, and strip diagram
  • 8 Differentiated Task Cards - 3 levels of 8 cards per level
  • Answer Key for Interactive Notes page
  • Answer Key for 2 part questions
  • Answer Key for Task Cards

This resource is great for use in the following ways:

  • bellringer
  • discussion questions
  • rotation/station
  • small group instruction
  • exit ticket

Differentiated Task Card KEY:

Square is for mid-low students with multiple choice options,

Triangle is for average students where students must provide the answer,

Circle is for higher level thinking in which the student must determine if it is correct or incorrect and explain why.

You can build student's confidence with the differentiated task cards. Academically lower learners can start with the first set of cards and work their way up to the higher academic level.

It covers the State of Texas 3.4 E TEKS “represent multiplication facts by using a variety of approaches such as repeated addition, equal-sized groups, arrays, area models, equal jumps on a number line, and skip counting.”
