RESOURCE 1: Teaching/Learning About the Topic (Printable PDFs & Options for Differentiation)

Using the Big Digestive System Foldable (with many options for differentiation) students will be able to create their own foldable and graphic organizer for their INBs or Binders as they learn about the digestive system. Students prefer these large format diagrams and this method of note-taking for clarity and organization.

RESOURCE 2: Individual INB Activities (Editable, Printable PDFs)

Using the 16 Digestive System Foldable Activities, students get to make foldables for their notes or INBs to learn about the digestive system. Each foldable contains detailed instructions to direct students on how to cut, fold and paste their foldable into their notebook, as well as instructions on how to complete each foldable task. This is a great activity to use after students have had a lesson on the digestive system OR you can choose to use the foldables themselves to help teach the topic.

RESOURCE 3: Interactive Google Slide Activities (Editable, Google Slides & Options for Differentiation)

Using the Digestive System - 8 Interactive Google Slides Activities, students will work through one (or more) of eight options of this activity to help them better understand the structures of the digestive system and their functions. This resource contains both direct type into text boxes activities as well as drag and drop matching activities. This resource is great for learning the topic, reinforcing concepts, homework, distance learning and paperless classrooms.

RESOURCE 4: Individual Review Worksheet (Editable, Printable PDF & Google Slides Option)

Using the Digestive System Homework Review Worksheet, students can either review their understanding of the digestive system in class or at home. This one page sheet is also very handy for sub work as well as test prep. The worksheet contains 3 different tasks to keep your students engaged and reviewing terms and concepts in a variety of ways.

RESOURCE 5: Extra Reinforcement / Early Finishers / Bonus Work (Editable, Printable PDF & Google Slides Option)

The Digestive System Diagram Crossword, is great for both early finishers as well as students who need more practice. This worksheet can also be given as bonus work or used as a handy sub plan. This is great reinforcement for the diagram of the digestive system as well as the concepts and terms related to the digestive system.

RESOURCE 6: Fun Pairs or Group Review Game - Taboo Review Game (Editable Template & Printable PDFs)

Using the Digestive System Taboo Game (32 Cards), students can review what they've learned about the digestive system in groups. This gives them an opportunity to engage the material while having a lot of fun. In particular, Taboo is a game that gets even the most passive students excited and participating. As well, you will have to restrain yourself from jumping in and giving students clues as the excitement builds!

RESOURCE 7: Article with Questions for Science Literacy / Sub Plan (Printable PDF & Google Slide Option)

In the Science Literacy Article: "Hello Gastric Bypass, Goodbye Stomach?" students will learn about morbid obesity and the two main types of bariatric procedures (restrictive methods and malabsorptive methods) that are used to treat this condition. Gastric banding and gastric bypass are specifically examined. This is a great extension activity for classes studying the digestive system or nutrition. Article questions and an answer key are also provided. This is a great way to introduce real life events and issues into your course that also directly relate to your curriculum.

RESOURCE 8: Quick Assessment - 25 Mark Quiz with Two Versions (Editable Word Doc, Printable PDF & Self-Grading Google Form Options)

Using the Digestive System Quiz allows you to quickly assess your students' learning and understanding of the digestive system. There are two versions provided with full answer keys for easy marking. Each version has the same questions but they are presented in a different order. This deters cheating as it allows you to alternate versions of the quiz between students who sit side by side.

Useful resource. I'm a Primary trained ESL teacher covering an ESL Highschool position so this was helpful for the academic science I had to support.
