Are you looking for a way to go paperless and dazzle your students with creative and engaging 21st Century learning opportunities? Ditch those boring worksheets and engage your students by giving them choices. The Common Core News Debate: Argumentative Writing Digital Task Cards contains 17 real-world writing tasks that will grab student's interest and spark their curiosity. The task cards are aligned to the CCSS.ELA-Literacy.W.6-8.1. Each task card includes a high interest writing topic and criteria that students can use to guide them through the task and to self-assess their writing.

Each task comes with two options for criteria:

Option #1 (Pre-Designed Templates)-Specific criteria has been included for the task that will allow students to know their expectations and be able to self-assess their product or response. Option #2 (EDITABLE Templates)- This set of task cards allows you to create your own criteria for each task. In addition, there is a blank task card template that allows you to create your own tasks.

There is a small error on the cards- all of them refer to the 1st card's topic in the questions, which I had to address with each pair of students who used the debate cards. Otherwise these were a great way to engage my students in an alternative project , with very little prep on my part, and students greatly enjoyed it.
