Digital Biogeochemical Cycles Sorting Task
Share

Description

This activity can be done as a review or summative assessment. It is a Google Slides assignment and can be shared with students via your Google Classroom. In the activity students sort terms and place them in boxes for the carbon, nitrogen, phosphorus, or water cycle. I tell students that there isn't any one box that the terms have to be in. Because of all the interaction of the cycles, terms can be placed in multiple boxes. Its up to students to determine where they believe the term best fits. You could also have them create a diagram with the terms or create a Flow Map.

This one was a bit confusing for the kids I work with (7th grade students with specialized learning needs). They were really thrown by having multiples that could fit in different categories. I ended up just printing them out and tossing about half of the slips to make it less challenging. I'd say it wasn't super engaging as there was a lot of frustration.
