Description
Looking for a way to have students read, write, create, and more, with quarter rest, or ta rest, in a distance learning situation? This digital interactive notebook is in Google Slides, and includes the following for practicing quarter notes, eighth notes, and quarter rest:
- 5 sections: reading, writing, creating, classifying, and responding
- 7 pages for reading, in which students read the rhythm to "Bow Wow Wow," "Naughty Kitty Cat," "Pease Porridge Hot," "Johnny caught a flea," and "See the old witch," then drag the icons into a box to show they've completed the reading, and then two pages in which students read the rhythm, then identify the song or chant by dragging the icon
- 4 pages for writing, in which students drag rhythm patterns to write the rhythm for "Bow Wow Wow," "Naughty Kitty Cat," "Johnny caught a flea," and "Pease Porridge Hot"
- 3 pages for creating, in which students drag 4-beat rhythm patterns or one beat rhythms, and one in which students label the form with apples, bananas, and cherries for what they've composed
- 4 pages for classifying, in which students label the fruit form for "Bow Wow Wow," "Naughty Kitty Cat," "Johnny caught a flea," and "Pease Porridge Hot"
- 2 pages for responding, in which students listen and read along with Beethoven's "Symphony No. 7," mvmt. 2 (which requires YouTube access), then respond to questions about the piece by typing in the text boxes
- 5 page blank templates, that you can add whatever you'd like to
- Directions for using, sharing, and having students submit back to you
- A key, for any slides with answers
Please note, this set does not include the terminology "ta," "ti-ti," or "ta rest," so can be used with any rhythm syllables. The students would need to know "Bow Wow Wow," "Naughty Kitty Cat," "See the old witch," "Pease Porridge Hot," and "Johnny caught a flea" to use the notebook, but slides can be deleted if needed. to use the notebook, but slides can be deleted if needed.
