Students:
- Click and drag to underline the core
- Identify the pattern type
- Complete the sentence by naming the pattern
Includes: AB, AAB, ABB, ABC, and ABCD patterns.
⭐ What's the Core? (Slides 26–29)
Students will look at 2 patterns, determine the core and drag and drop to complete the sentence. This activity teaches students to recognize that patterns can be represented in different ways because the core remains the same.
⭐ Make a Pattern (Slides 30–34)
Students create a specific pattern type using drag-and-drop manipulatives.
Pattern types included: AB, AAB, ABB, ABC, ABCD
⭐ Make Your Own Pattern (Slides 35–37)
Students:
- Create their own pattern
- Type the pattern name into the text box
- Includes 3 manipulative options:
• Bears
• Buttons
• Shapes
- Includes 3 manipulative options:
⭐ Next and Before (Slides 38-41)
Students click and drag to complete the pattern.
This activity helps students practice extending patterns in both directions.
⭐ Extend Both Ways (Slides 42-45)
The core is given and students click and drag to create the pattern by extending the core to the left and to the right. This activity helps students practice extending patterns in both directions.
⭐ What's Missing? (Slides 46–49)
Students will identify the pattern and use that information to identify the missing element.
