Description

Engage your students in language learning (ELA, Reading, Writing, Oral, Media) with this FREE digital or printable passion project meets makerspace inquiry project template. This deep thinking hands-on project is a perfect way to start off the new year and is great for both in-class language center activities or distance learning.

What is a maker inquiry?

1. Find your passion - students will decide on a passion that they would like to inquire about

2. Inquire - students will research to learn about this topic

3. Make - students will create a product based on this passion

4. Share - students will decide on how to share their learning with their classmates

Begin with an explanation, a list of projects types and 3 examples to help students understand the process. Students will then use the provided templates to record and create. Student friendly expectations and feedback rubric are also included.

Passion projects and makerspace are great ways to engage students learning both at school (while social distancing) and at home for online school. Rather than worksheet tasks, give them something engaging that will empower their learning. This passion maker inquiry project is just what you need in your face to face/ virtual classroom.

I want to love this resource, but I have found after two years that my students are just not engaging with much effort. I think next year I’ll add in some explicit guiding questions to encourage deeper research and see how it goes.
