Description

These 6 decimal sorts are perfect for 5.NBT.1-4. The sorts work for whole class, small groups and partners. Through sorting the cards (including digitally), students will gain a deeper understanding of decimals: naming; place value; multiplying/dividing by 10, 100, and 1000; comparing; and rounding to tenths and hundredths. Just print, cut, and go! Or can be used in Google and PowerPoint!

Each of the six sorts reviews the following:

* naming decimals (standard, word, fraction, and expanded) 5.NBT.1

* multiplying decimals by 10, 100, 1000 to understand place value 5.NBT.2

* dividing decimals by 10, 100, 1000 to understand place value 5.NBT.2

* comparing decimals (greater than, less than, or equal) 5.NBT.3

* rounding decimals to tenths 5.NBT.4

* rounding decimals to hundredths 5.NBT.4

How can I use this product?

I divide my class intro groups of 2-4 and rotate the sorts around and listen to the discussions that come while students are discussing where each of the decimal cards go. For digital learning, you can share the screen and talk through the sorts, during synchronous learning. Because there are three different versions of each sort, you can share the sorts with small groups (using breakout rooms), you can also assign the sorts to an individual for asynchronous learning.

What is included?

The 13 page PDF file contains:

  • Cover page/notes/copyright info (3 pages)
  • 10 pages of the 6 sorts

PowerPoint PPTX file

  • With the six sorts in three different versions to use in MS Teams (39 slides)
  • Links to the six sorts in three different versions and answer key (36 slides)

Is this available in a bundle as well?
