Description

Test a student's understanding of pre-algebra terms and expressions! These Digital interactive games will engage 5th, 6th and 7th grade students and provide a fun and educational experience. There are 9 different games covering basic concepts that need to be understood before learning algebra - including addition, subtraction, division and multiplication, using negative numbers, basic graphing, geometry, fractions and problem solving, factors and prime factors. The games concentrate on the understanding of the processes and concepts - the numbers used are 4 digits and below - rather than the understanding of place value/number lines. This is to facilitate differentiation - all students should be able to show their understanding of the concepts without being restricted by their understanding of place value and number size.

These can be used at the beginning of a section, to test baseline comprehension, and at the end, to test competence.

The colorful games are self-correcting, providing feedback after each activity.  All activities must be completed to win the game. Students succeed and track their progress as they complete each activity on the supplied worksheets. This activity requires no preparation - only online assigning to each student. Worksheets can be printed for students to record their working and answers. The activities could also be printed for an in class cut and paste activity.

Students receive immediate feedback and opportunities for learning. Independent learning creates a chance to connect and assist individual students. Small group/pair work is also possible for students to learn from each other.

It uses templates and from the fantastic Flapjack templates.  Visit the store and try it out for yourself.
