Description
Clip Cards are an engaging and interactive activity for students to identify digraph sounds. Students apply their phonics knowledge by correctly clipping the correct letter-sound correspondence using a clothespin. This would be a great addition to your literacy center! Clip Cards are always a wonderful tool to have on hand for early finishers, centers, and small group.
This resource is also part of a Phonics Clip Card Bundle. You can save 20% by purchasing this set: Phonics Clip Card Bundle
This resource has 2 different versions of cards:
★1st Set- Student will look at the picture and identify the digraph chunk that it has by using a close pin to clip it.
★2nd Set-Students will look at the word with a missing digraph chunk. Students will clip which digraph completes the word. I have included pictures with the words for reference.
The 2 sets of 54 digraph clip cards includes the following:
★digraph "ch": chair, cheese, chalk, cherry, chick, church
★digraph "sh": shadow, shark, sheep, shell, ship, shovel
★digraph "th": thermos, thief, thorn, thread, throne, thumb
★digraph "wh": wheel, whisker, wheat, whisk, whistle, whale
★digraph "ph": dolphin, elephant, gopher, photo, trophy, phone
★digraph "-ch": beach, bench, couch, inch, lunch, punch
★digraph "-ck": back, duck, neck, pack, sick, sock
★digraph "-sh": brush, bush, fish, leash, rash, wash
★digraph "-th": bath, booth, math, mouth, path, tooth
I like to introduce activities like this during small group/Guided Reading time so that students can practice and understand the directions with my support. After students are familiar with this, you can use them for literacy centers, early finishers and more.
