Extend students learning in Dilation with this low prep and engaging project that includes, Art Math and Writing.

  • Students are randomly given a scale factor
  • Students either enlarge or reduce a figure on the coordinate plane based on the scale factor.
  • They must write the algebraic representation for the dilation.
  • Students justify their work in writing.

The coordinate plane for the original shape was not accurate. The labeling of the axis was incorrect. Students were not able to use the scale of each point to determine the new point.
