What others say

"My students really liked choosing a logo of their choice and dilating it using scale factor. This was great for the end of the unit (which is the very end of the year for us)!"

Description

This mini-project can be used as classwork or homework, as it is engaging and helps student solidify the concept of dilations with a center at the origin.

The project is fun and self-directed, for it includes precise directions in the exact order students should complete them in. Students can self-differentiate by choosing logos with varied difficulty.

Resource includes a key that can uploaded to google classroom so students can refer to the exemplar should they get stuck or have clarifying questions. The key does not provide thorough answers for the analysis questions, so that the cognitive load for those is on students.

My students loved using this resource for their morning work! They were engaged in the resource and had no trouble getting started. It didn't take much time to prepare this resource, so it was easy for me to use in a time crunch. I adapted it for my lower level students and had them skip some of the more challenging questions.
