Brief Notes on Dimensional Analysis Quick Notes

My notes utilizes scaffolding instruction for student learning to slowly lose the reigns into students' hands. The notes cover how to perform dimensional analysis to convert units. This process breaks down conversions to an easy-to-understand format so that students can perform any unit conversion as long as they know the conversion factors. The notes also provide multiple common conversion factors so that students may have a quick chart to glance out when performing conversions. This lesson, in my experience, does take more time with some students who have struggled with unit conversions or with visualizing various units in the past.

I teach students with brief notes that allot more time in class for students to practice material. I give an assignment on the material so students can use the majority of class time experiencing and mastering problems on their own. I aim for 10-20 minutes of notes and the rest of the class on the assignment. This lesson tends to take longer due to the difficulty of the material. I provide time for entrance and exit tickets additional to the lesson and notes.

My students are behind in math skills and have time and time again flunked out of previous math classes or have been expelled. I aim to use short concise notes to get students back on track and build up their math skills.

I often use Kuta worksheets or others for students to practice skills taught in this lesson. I have created a worksheet to go along with this lesson that is sectioned based on the levels of Bloom's Taxonomy.
