Description

Students will have an opportunity to write direct variation and inverse variation equations using this activity.

Students will formulate direct and inverse variation equations and use them to solve problems. Word problems and mathematical problems are included. Students also will determine if data on a table represents a directly proportional relationship, inversely proportional relationship, or neither.

With flexible implementation, teachers can use these cards as a round-the-room review, partner or small group activity, or review flashcards.

I used this resource as practice for the topic. I shortened the number of problems that were given to 16. My students had no trouble solving for a but most failed to write the equation for the relationship.
