Description

Teach coding skills through drawing.

Teaching students coding concepts begins with activities that they are familiar with.  This activity draws on students’ knowledge of shapes and lines to teach them about sequencing and conditionals.  This activity pack includes:

  • Cat Sequence Drawing Directions → step-by-step visual directions to draw a cat.
  • Cat Sequence Audio Directions → step-by-step audio directions to draw a cat. This is a great activity to see if students can follow the verbal code and have a cat drawn at the end.
  • Cat Conditional Audio Directions → step-by-step audio directions to draw a cat. These directions include phrases like if/then. This is a great activity to see if students can follow the verbal code and have a cat drawn at the end.
  • Cat Coded Drawing Starter Page → this sheet is a perfect starting point for students who may need help getting started.
  • Files to use with digital learning platforms → upload these to your favorite learning management system. Directions are included to upload to Seesaw and Google.
  • Tutorial for using this activity with PicCollage → this is a great free app that allows students to draw. Directions for using this app are included.
