Calculator Math is a realistic math unit which teaches students how find items in a sales flier and to add using a calculator. The unit helps students to increase their independent Community Based Instruction shopping skills. It also reinforces basic reading skills and sight word recognition. The sales flier is a visual representation of store fliers distributed in local stores and newspapers.

There are three levels in this unit. In the first level, the the student adds two items with the prices listed. The second level requires the student to locate the correct price of the item, and fill it in prior to using the calculator. For the third level, the students utilizes the shopping flyer to locate the prices prior to using the calculator.
