This product contains a rubric and template. Students will enjoy designing their own distance formula word problem from scratch while demonstrating high level of understanding. They will be challenged to perform calculations and explain step by step how they arrived at the final answer. The document has a fillable design for students to input information directly into the appropriate places within the distance formula. Talk about uniformity and consistency! This was a huge plus when students did the presentations because we all knew what to expect next AND it was easy to apply a rubric/expectations. Use as a discussion based assessment or fun class assignment. Utilize as an individual assignment, small group or partner project (think-pair-share), or teach the teacher type of assignment. Students will use clip art images to accompany the word problem while calculating the distance between 2 locations.

I provided 2 days of class time for students to complete the project, and another day for presentations. Students were engaged and enjoyed presenting a word problem that they created from scratch! This product may be printed or used digitally, which makes it perfect for in-person or virtual learning. Students can share their screens for virtual presentations, or the teacher can pull up each presentation and share on their screen.
