Mission Hyperdoc Description:
An ALL DIGITAL INTERACTIVE ACTIVITY to learn about the CA Mission System!
The link will force you to make a copy of the hyperdoc into your Google Drive.
The hyperdoc covers many topics such as life at the mission, its structural features, Junipero Serra, vocabulary, crops grown, etc.
It has the students explore various websites, watch videos, analyze primary sources and more to gain a full understanding from multiple perspectives about the CA Missions.
The hyperdoc also has students collaborate via padlet, flipgrid, and other platforms. Students are asked to create products like infographics, google slides presentations, and a Google My Map with pins.
Here is a sample of a couple of the activities/resources included:

- List 3 structural features of a typical mission. Type here
- What material do you think missions are made of? Type here
- What is typically found in the center of the mission grounds? Type here
Using Google Draw, create a floor plan/blueprint of a common mission design. Things to include- soldier’s quarters, church, bell tower, quadrangle, etc.

Gold Rush Hyperdoc Description:
Examine the California Gold Rush using this digital interactive activity!
The file link is provided and will ask you to make a copy of it into your google drive!
Students are asked to explore websites, listen to audio, examine photos, etc. about various aspects of the gold rush such as mining tools, diseases of the time, routes to CA, and MUCH MORE
Skills covered: analyze, compare, infer, critical thinking, listening, explore and MORE
Students are also asked to create things using google draw, google slides, storyboardthat.com, pin locations on google my maps and more!
Sample questions/activities included:
Do you feel the effects of the Gold Rush were mainly positive or negative? Explain.
Listen to the song, “Oh, Susanna” and then answer these questions.
What is the mood of the song? Provide a specific lyric that supports your thinking.
Find a simile in the song- Type it hear and explain what it means.
Compare and contrast the 3 main routes people used to travel to the diggings!

This hyperdoc style doc enables your students to explore many aspects of the Transcontinental Railroad!
