Using a communication board can help improve communication and reduce interfering behaviors. By using the communication board, the child is able to answer yes or no questions by point or using the pictures as a prompt. The can also make a request by choosing a commonly used picture to express their want/need.
Instructions:
Laminate pages 1 and 2 , place a hook and loop (velcro) strip under the request sentence (across the page). Cut out each picture on page 2 and place a small piece of hook and loop on the back. Place pictures on the long hook and loop piece. Model the desired actions for the child until they are able to independently perform the task.
