Thank you for purchasing this product. The purpose of this product is to assess students' understanding of covalent compounds, what they consist of, their nomenclature rules, and how to write chemical formulas. This worksheet consists of 4 parts.

Part 1: Short Answer Questions

Part 2: Elements Information: Students will identify the number of protons, electrons, valence electrons, and the number of electrons needed to fulfill the octet rule.

Part 3: Naming Covalent Compounds: Students will write out the covalent compounds names based on the chemical formulas provided.

Part 4: Covalent Compound Formulas: Students will write out the chemical formulas based on the covalent compound names provided.

In this product you will find the following:

  1. Digital Worksheet- This is formatted in Google Slides so that you can easily assign this virtually. Students cannot alter the worksheet, instead they will type in their responses in the text box provided.
  2. Print Copy Worksheet- This is formatted so that the Google Slide can easily be printed and wrote on.
  3. Answer Key

This worksheet can be used in multiple ways to effectively assess students’ and serve as a practice for them.

  1. In class assignment- Assign this to students right after teaching them about ionic compounds.
  2. Homework
  3. Extra credit
  4. Review
  5. Substitute work
  6. Absent work

I found this assignment to be effective after teaching my students about covalent compounds. I have also found this to be an effective worksheet that can be used as a review. I hope that you find this to be useful with your own students.
