Description

Bring high-interest summer learning to your classroom with this exciting Summer CSI Mystery, perfect for practicing inference, logic, deductive reasoning, and reading comprehension.

This engaging Printable + Digital CSI Activity leads students through a full crime scene investigation as they work to solve The Case of the Sabotaged Water Slide.

Ideal for end-of-year lessons, summer school, enrichment groups, centers, or distance learning, this resource provides rigorous academic practice disguised as pure fun.

Students begin by reading the case file, “What Happened at Splatter Town?” A brand-new water slide, the Squidly Express, has just opened for the season, but someone has sabotaged the water lines with a strange purple ink.

The park is shut down, the evidence is gathered, and your young detectives must determine who ruined opening day.

Throughout the investigation, students analyze witness statements, alibis, trace evidence, footprints, and hair samples, applying logic and deduction to identify the culprit. The activity takes approximately 1.5–2 hours and can be completed in one session or broken into smaller lessons.

This resource includes BOTH a fully printable (PDF) version and a Digital Google Slides version, making it easy to use in any classroom. Assign digitally for a 100% paperless option, or print the student packet and go—no complicated prep required.

Teachers love the easy setup. Students LOVE solving the mystery.

Clip art too babyish for my 6th graders
Rated 3 out of 5

This looks good. I was excited about the hair follicles and focusing on text evidence and motive. I had it prepped and ready to go, but the kids couldn't get past the clip art. They felt it was very juvenile, despite reading through the mystery. I could tell they weren't engaged, and when I asked them, they said they felt like they were babies because of the kids in the clip art. I respected their opinions and didn't use it.
