Distance Learning Mini-unit for Upper Level Spanish Sub Plan
Share

Description

This is a weeklong mini-unit based around a highly motivating Ted Talk en español, "Olor a Campeón" given by Gonzalo Vilariño. In his talk, Vilariño tells the story of what he learned while training the Murciélagos, Argentina's blind soccer team. Perfect for distance learning! Recommended for levels 3 and above.

My students love this talk!! Here is what some of them had to say about it (unedited):

This 10 slide presentation includes:

Two pre-listening activities

A link to the Ted Talk en español

Four post listening/reflecting activities

Four project ideas/options to address the needs of a variety of learning styles

I ended up not using this and taking a different route instead. It appears to be a well-thought-out mini-unit.

This was put together so well! I had to miss two days and my seniors worked on this without a Spanish-speaking sub! Thank you!

What an engaging talk! Kids love sports and appreciate learning that people of all kinds of capacities can have a passion and follow it. Thank you.

I am using this for distance learning...inspiring to students. As a soccer fan I was especially interested in his story; but it appeals to all students. I would love to see more of these as we struggle with online learning. ALL of my students were engaged which is rare in this virtual environment.

Thanks so much for this feedback. I am working on a few other TedTalk mini-units. They should be out soon!
