Help your fifth grader stay sharp with learning activities that include short reading worksheets, math word problem worksheets, and creative writing ideas perfect for home practice or summer review. The 15 reading passages are all written at a mid-5th to mid-6th reading level. The texts are short and interesting, with academic vocabulary and multiple-choice questions that require critical thinking. The 15 pages of math problems are mixed operations with five problems per page. The page of 24 writing topics is presented like a bingo game and includes different types of writing. These activities were designed to provide meaningful extra practice without causing a meltdown over "too much" to do. Great for tutoring or homework assignments too!

The format is one paragraph followed by four multiple-choice questions similar to the questions on standardized tests. The math page design is simple and uncluttered, with five problems per page and five matching blank spaces to show work. The writing page is designed for a child to choose a title, write about it, then cross it off on the page. It would be motivational to give a small reward (such as a new pencil or 20 extra minutes of playing video games) each time bingo is achieved.
