Description

Give students practice in mastering concepts of geometry the basics of fractions by focusing on specific skills.

You can see previews for each unit by clicking on their links. The previews show the entire resource!

These 32 worksheets provide straight-forward and consistent question-types that allow students to build fluency and confidence in developing the strategies taught in math curriculums for 1st grade

The 29 math vocabulary posters support students’ acquisition of academic language. The bold text throughout the worksheets allow students to see examples of how this language is used and its connections to actual math problems.

Many students need repetition to understand mathematical concepts and see the patterns to gain number sense. These practice worksheets are great for homework, independent practice, quick-assessments, and more. They are especially great for students still developing their literacy skills, such as English language learners, because you can model one problem and the students can continue to practice on their own before they are able to read the directions independently.

An answer key is included.

You may view the entire resource in the preview file.

This resource aligns to all of the grade 1 Common Core State Standards in the Geometry domain.

My students needed practice with shapes before their assessment. This resource was a great review for them. I love that it incorporates many standards into the practice. I could assess their knowledge based on answers to these worksheets.

Distinguish between defining attributes (e.g., triangles are closed and three-sided) versus non-defining attributes (e.g., color, orientation, overall size); build and draw shapes to possess defining attributes.
Compose two-dimensional shapes (rectangles, squares, trapezoids, triangles, half-circles, and quarter-circles) or three-dimensional shapes (cubes, right rectangular prisms, right circular cones, and right circular cylinders) to create a composite shape, and compose new shapes from the composite shape.
Partition circles and rectangles into two and four equal shares, describe the shares using the words halves, fourths, and quarters, and use the phrases half of, fourth of, and quarter of. Describe the whole as two of, or four of the shares. Understand for these examples that decomposing into more equal shares creates smaller shares.
