I've seen too many students get stuck, struggling with math (and math anxiety) unsure how to proceed. As we transition to distance learning it is more important than ever to equip our students to respond productively and resiliently to moments of struggle.

Help them identify proactive strategies *before* they get stuck, and build a culture of productive struggle, grit and resilience.

Brainstorm strategies, gather authentic data, make observations about data, and complete a personal reflection and/or math analysis.

Access a Google Drive folder containing:

A total of 6 files: 2 lesson plans, 2 google forms, a ballot form and a brainstorming document.

Classroom lesson plan includes:

  • CCRS Math standards
  • Activities to practice ratios, fractions, percents and bag graphs
  • All necessary handouts
  • Editable ballot
  • Extension ideas
  • Multiple data collection methods

Distance Learning lesson plan includes:

  • Two Google Forms for data collection and reflection
  • Pre-formatted Google Doc for brainstorming
  • Online facilitation outline
  • 2 pages of Google Docs/Forms tips and instructions
  • Links to additional resources
