Product Description:

Directions:  Write an essay on a U.S. State.  Then, format it to look like a newsletter.

Organize your essay as follows:

  • Introductory Paragraph
    • State introduction
    • Date/year state was established
    • Brief history of establishment
    • U.S. region in which it belongs
    • State capital

  • Three Body Paragraphs (Choose 3 of the following topics to discuss)
    • Geography, climate, and weather
    • Native plants and animals
    • Important historical events
    • Natural resources and products
    • Government & Economy
    • Demographics & Culture (Population, ancestry, religion, etc.)
    • Attractions, recreation & sports
    • Fun/Interesting Facts (State flower, bird, flag, etc.)

  • Concluding Paragraph
    • Recap of key information

Include the following text features:

  • Large Title
  • 5 or more images (with captions)
  • One chart or graph
  • One diagram
  • A glossary with 5 or more words and their definitions
  • Appropriate headings and subheadings

Download includes a link to the assignment. Document can be easily shared through Google Drive or Google Classroom. Document is editable.
