"I was looking for something different for students to do while reviewing distance and midpoint. Students enjoyed working on the problems in pairs and then working on the puzzle. It was super helpful that the students received immediate feedback after plugging in answers."

Description

This is a self-checking, Google Sheets, digital activity that provides immediate feedback to your students. There are 12 problems that involve finding the distance between two ordered pairs, finding the midpoint between two ordered pairs, and finding the missing endpoint when given the midpoint and an endpoint. Your students will love digitally solving the puzzle and revealing the mystery picture as they correctly answer questions.

How does it work?

If your students answer each problem correctly, the answer box will turn blue and part of the puzzle will appear. If they answer incorrectly, the box will turn red. When all of the problems are answered correctly, your students will see a complete picture!

A recording sheet and the answer key are included in the pdf download.

All you need to do is assign this to students on any platform that you can assign Google Sheets (i.e. Google Classroom). Make sure to select the option to make a copy for each student.

My students really enjoyed this mystery picture activity to practice the distance and midpoint formulas. The self-checking feature is brilliant—students instantly knew if they made an error, which kept them motivated to find their mistakes without constantly asking me for help. It was an excellent value and kept everyone highly engaged.
