Description

All Materials are Common Core Aligned and target a challenging standard ----> 3.MD.7!

There is no doubt that 3rd grade Common Core focuses pretty heavily on multiplication properties and area concepts!

**I have found that teaching the distributive property can be very challenging, as it's very abstract! These resources have broken the distributive property down....LITERALLY ;)... so that students are able to truly grasp how it works. Resources provide a PERFECT introduction to the concept, and worksheets essential to a smooth, gradual release.

**In addition, students will explore area as ADDITIVE, and this pack will help them to use SIMILAR techniques to those used when learning about the distributive property.

**Students are also given a authentic area challenge about "Jared's Backyard" where they are able to extend their understanding of area.
This activity would be great as a whole-class guided activity, or a extension for a higher level workshop group.

**ALSO INCLUDED are AREA & DISTRIBUTIVE PROPERTY POSTERS, graph paper, a worksheet relating area to the LxW formula, a create-your-own area challenge, and additional distributive property practice!
