Dividing Integers Partner Practice: A Fun & Engaging Approach to Negative Number Mastery!
Turn integer division—especially with negative numbers—into an exciting, collaborative challenge! In this partner-based activity, each student works on a different set of division problems, but both should arrive at the same final answer. When answers match, they move on; if they differ, students collaborate to find and fix the mistake.

  • Promotes Math Talk: Pairs discuss strategies and solutions, strengthening communication and critical thinking skills.
  • Increases Engagement: Students stay motivated by checking and comparing answers with a partner.
  • Flexible Use: Ideal for small groups, centers, or class-wide practice on dividing positive and negative integers.

I like partner activities because the students have more fun than just completing problems on their own. Plus, they get to check each other's work so they get competitive too!
