What are Math Labs?
Math Labs build skills and fluency on key math topics. They include:

• 6 leveled math centers that follow a progression from beginning skills to advanced. Math Labs
In addition, many of the individual centers also offer multiple levels to meet student needs. Win-win!
Altogether, students practice a rich assortment of engaging, skill-building activities.

• Student Recording Sheets -- Students are held accountable for their work by either completing a "Lab Book"
which contains response pages for each center OR by completing individual recording sheets.

• Support Materials -- all of the centers include teacher notes, student-friendly directions and Answer Keys.

• Labels for Drawers or Tubs and organization tips.

What Centers are Included in Division Math Lab?

1. Hands-On Division – students use small manipulatives and distribute them into equal groups
to determine the quotient. This center offers 3 levels.

2. Division Puzzles – students practice the basic concept of division. They are given the total
cost of a puzzle with equal pieces and they determine the cost of one piece. They count
the number of pieces in each puzzle and divide the total cost by that number. 2 levels.

3. Division Jumble – students find as many division equations as they can and record their score
based on the number of facts they write. 2 levels.

4. Division Squares – students fill in the missing numbers in each Division Square so that each row
and column shows a division fact. 2 levels.

5. Game: Race to the Stars – a 2-player game where students take turns rolling one 10-sided die.
Each roll is the quotient, and they look on their side of the gameboard for a division problem
that equals the quotient rolled. (I’ve found this kind of practice to be super helpful in learning those facts!)

6. Let’s Help Zookeeper Sue! – this center gives your students a reason to solve division problems –
Zookeeper Sue needs their help! There are two levels. In Level 1, students solve one-step
division problems; in Level 2, they solve two-step. As a final activity, students write two
of their own “Zookeeper Sue” word problems.
