Description

Motivate your students to learn their division facts by using this set of division quizzes and tracking sheets. Students will graph their scores on their tracking sheet each time they take a timed test. Use the bulletin kite as a way to motivate students to improve their scores.

How do you use the kites?

I gave each student a kite to decorate.

They colored and wrote math facts on the kites.

I hung the kites up on a wall in the classroom.

(For this product, I also included kites that are colored if you want to skip the step of having your students color their own kites.)

Each week my students take a timed fact test.

They have 2 minutes to complete 25 problems.

After I grade the tests, the students graph the number of correct answers.

When students get a higher number on their graph, they receive a piece of string to attach to their kite.

The goal is that students get a higher number of facts correct each week and earn a piece of string.

When students get 25 facts correctly, their goal is to beat their previous speed.

If they complete the facts faster than they did the previous week, they will earn a piece of string for their kites.

Aligned with Common Core State Standards:

3.OA.7: Fluently multiply and divide within 100, using strategies such as the relationship between multiplication and division (e.g., knowing that 8 × 5 = 40, one knows 40 ÷ 5 = 8) or properties of operations. By the end of Grade 3, know from memory all products of two one-digit numbers.
