Dollar Deal! This is an engaging and differentiated math activity to enrich your students. This activity is designed for 5th and 6th grade. Math skills include word problems, adding decimals and finding percents. Differentiation provides students with prices instead of a word problem. You receive three versions of this resource: Google Slides, PowerPoint and PDFs. This resource can be printed using the PDFs. Students can complete this digitally by typing their answers directly on Google Slides.
Students are provided with seven illustrations with hidden pictures within each. Students must add up the prices for each hidden picture to find the grand total of each illustration. Once all illustrations costs have been found, students will choose one illustration to purchase and explain their reasoning. To further differentiate, you can limit the number of illustrations students receive or have each student complete the work for only one illustration and then share the totals before choosing which illustration to buy. This pack includes:
1) Directions
2) Seven different illustrations (both color and black and white)
3) Price Sheet with Differentiation: Regular Price sheet includes money (penny, nickel, dime, quarter, one dollar bill, five dollar bill, ten dollar bill and twenty dollar bill), percents and word problems. The differentiated Price Sheet has the same amounts as the regular price sheet but the price is provided instead of the word problem or coin amount. Editable price sheets are also included! Both color and black and white included. On the black and white regular price sheet, the coins and dollar bills are still in color.
6) Student Answer Sheets to help organize students as they work through this STEAM challenge and provide space for them to show their work. Both color and black and white included.
