Dot Marker Coloring Page: /r/ and /r/-Blend Speech Activity

This activity uses a color-by-number dot marker page to target /r/ and /r/-blend word production in a fun, structured way. Students use dot markers to color each section of the picture according to the number code. Each number is paired with a target word containing /r/ or an /r/-blend.

Before coloring each section, the student says the assigned target word aloud, three times, to practice correct sound production. The repetition supports motor planning while the coloring element keeps the activity engaging and hands-on.

This activity works well for:

  • Increasing accurate production of /r/ and /r/-blends in isolation, syllables, and words
  • Supporting carryover by embedding speech practice into a structured, motivating task
  • Providing visual cues and predictable practice opportunities within a closed-ended activity
