- Display Pages: These are the landscape pages. Project these on your whiteboard to introduce the “I can” statement and to teach the doubles and near doubles strategy. These are perfect for direct instruction and provide a very visual learning experience for students. Simply model solving the near doubles examples or have students help you. A notes page is included to guide you on using these pages.
- Doubles and Near Doubles Worksheets: Print these off for students. Do a couple problems together and have students do the rest by themselves. Great for low-prep guided practice and independent practice!
- Task Cards & Scoot Activity: Print these on cardstock and cut the task cards apart. You can laminate them and have students use dry-erase markers or tape the problems up around your classroom and use it as a scoot activity. Print the recording sheet for students. Students go around and solve the addition equations using the doubles and near doubles strategy. They write their answers on the recording page. These get students up out of their seats and moving - making your lessons more engaging!
- Puzzle Activities: Print these off and cut apart. For the addition set, students line up the visual way to represent near doubles with its equation and answer. For the subtraction set, students line up the visual way to represent the subtraction doubles facts to their matching equations and answers. I like to have students work with a partner.
