Materials

Level 1: 2-3 written play steps with corresponding play statement scripts

Level 2: 4-6 written play steps with corresponding play statement scripts

Scripts can be placed on key ring for easy use.

Scripts provided can be used with any themed toy sets.

How you may use

  • Play steps may assist teachers in prompting multi step play.
  • Teachers may vocally prompt students to engage in play statement.
  • Steps may be used as a visual prompt with proficient readers.
  • Scripts may be faded as independent/spontaneous responses are reinforced! - Research: script-fading procedures to promote play based statements with children with Autism

Example:

Step 1: Student independently adds toppings while saying "I'm adding toppings"

Step 2: Student cuts pizza while saying "I'm cutting the pizza"

Step 3: Student takes a bite while saying "This is yummy"

***Each step look for the patient to state a play statement/phrase
