- In “Apartment Renovation," students will familiarize themselves with architectural symbols, scale, area, and perimeter calculations.

- In “Design a Kitchen,” students will measure scale drawings and be introduced to some simpler building codes. They will conclude by designing their own code-compliant kitchen scale.

- In “New Home Builder,” students will be asked to appraise the value of houses based on the square footage of their blueprints. They will use Nearby Home Sales to estimate the new home's worth!

- In "Dream House," students will put their practice to use by designing their own dream house. Several handouts make this more convenient.

My students did not enjoy all aspects of the project. Some of the code pages and kitchen designs were complicated and they gave up quickly. I was excited about the activity but did not get the same reaction from my students! Overall still a great resource for project learning.

Draw polygons in the coordinate plane given coordinates for the vertices; use coordinates to find the length of a side joining points with the same first coordinate or the same second coordinate. Apply these techniques in the context of solving real-world and mathematical problems.
Solve problems involving scale drawings of geometric figures, including computing actual lengths and areas from a scale drawing and reproducing a scale drawing at a different scale.
Draw (freehand, with ruler and protractor, and with technology) geometric shapes with given conditions. Focus on constructing triangles from three measures of angles or sides, noticing when the conditions determine a unique triangle, more than one triangle, or no triangle.
