Give your students a checklist, anchor chart, and transition phrases for citing evidence and elaborating all right next to the area they'll write their R.A.C.E. response! This ultra-supportive template allows for lots of student independence.

The template features:

  • A space for writing the question-- I find this is best done as a class instead of already printed for them!
  • A space to circle whether the question will require an informative or argumentative response
  • An anchor chart that features each part of R.A.C.E. (Restate and Answer, Cite Evidence, and Elaborate) as well as E.L.A.-specific transition phrases that students can choose from.
