Earth Day activities with reading, writing, math, and a science project for 3rd, 4th , and 5th grade! Go beyond the Earth Day worksheet by engaging students with Earth Day reading comprehension passages and teaching slides on water pollution, recycling, and conservation.

Reading passages, ELA, writing, science, and much more are included! With high-interest hands-on activities, there are enough tasks to keep students engaged and learning all month long!


Your students will LOVE to complete the Great Garbage Challenge. Your students will take a piece of garbage and reuse it in a creative way. All project resources for this Earth Day project are included.

5 differentiated nonfiction passages include text features to strengthen informational text reading skills. Activities and projects require students to use text-based evidence and encourage critical thinking about Earth Day.

Simple to differentiate! Passages come in two versions: a 2-page vocabulary-rich passage and a simpler, one-page passage with easier vocabulary. Both passages can be used with the included reflection pages.

Kindly Note: Only the 3, two-page passages are differentiated.

Fiction reading activities are based on the popular book Miss Rumphius by Barbara Cooney, and writing activities for each genre, including poetry and much more! (This picture book is not included.)

The teaching slideshow includes an overview of Earth Day, the History of Earth Day, the 3 Rs, water conservation, and pollution. Each section has questions to assess understanding.
