I am very pleased with this resource. It was thoughtfully designed, easy to differentiate, and aligned well with my instructional goals. My students enjoyed the activities and demonstrated a strong understanding of the concepts. It saved me valuable preparation time and was ready to use right away. I highly recommend this product and look forward to using more resources from this seller.

Hard to Navigate and Time Consuming
Rated 2 out of 5

Standards-aligned
Getting to the actual resources themselves is frustrating because it takes about four clicks or so to finally navigate through all the extra fluff. You open the folder which has a massive list of all the material in one folder not broken up by unit or anything with the filler activities like valentines day or back to school focused ones scattered throughout. When you click on any of these it takes you to an entirely new page that is slightly overstimulating as it always has the graphic of a laptop displaying the name of the activity you just clicked on, and then another page describing whats included, and then by the third page you can finally click the resource you were after in the first place which then takes you to google drive where you click yet again if you want a pdf version or a word doc version before you can do what you need to do. It is time consuming to say the least and feels so disorganized compared to other year long curriculum bundles ive purchased for different subjects like those by Science from Scratch for example. The resources were workable but not the organization.

Thank you so much for taking the time to leave a detailed review. I truly appreciate your feedback.

I'm so sorry to hear that accessing the resources felt frustrating. Based on your description, I wonder if you may have been navigating through the downloaded files rather than the Google Drive curriculum folders. The bundle is designed to be accessed through the "Welcome Pages – Open First!" file, which links to organized Google Drive folders separated by unit, along with clickable pacing guides that link directly to each lesson, lab, activity, and assessment. My goal is to make it as quick and intuitive as possible to find exactly what you need.

If that's not the path you used, I'd genuinely love to help. Please feel free to reach out via email (admin@teachspectacularscience.com), and I'd be happy to walk you through the organization or help troubleshoot anything that isn't working as intended. If there's something in the navigation that could be clearer, I always appreciate hearing that so I can continue improving the experience for teachers.

Thank you again for your feedback, and I'm glad to hear you found the curriculum itself to be valuable and standards-aligned.

A well crafted resource but question

Hi! This is great material, I bought the entire year long bundle. However, today I just bought the Lab bundle without realizing it is already included in the year long bundle! I will need a refund for the Lab bundle since it is all duplicates for what I already bought from you. How do we go about this?

This product is very helpful, especially for teachers who are new to teaching this subject. It offers a wide variety of resources that make planning much easier and help build confidence with the content. I would love to see even more student-centered activities that require movement, such as stations or QR-code scavenger hunts, but overall this is a great resource that I will continue to use.

Thank you so much for your thoughtful review, Sheila! I’m glad the bundle has been helpful and makes planning easier, especially for new teachers. Since it already includes a ton of student-centered, inquiry-based activities, I’m curious—did you notice those opportunities for movement and hands-on engagement? I really appreciate your idea about QR-code scavenger hunts, though that’s not something I’ve included yet. I’m thrilled to hear you plan to keep using the bundle in your classroom!

Just a question...

Hi there! Just wondering, are most teachers who teach to this curriculum simply using the activities that are embedded in these packets as "labs"? If so, how are you calculating lab minutes? Or are you doing completely different labs that you tally up for the 1200 minutes of lab time? Thank you!

Hi there! Thanks so much for reaching out! Most teachers use the dedicated labs included throughout the curriculum to meet their required lab minutes. Each one is designed to be hands-on, data-driven, and substantial enough to count toward official lab time. The reinforcement packets, virtual field trips, projects, stations, and other learning activities are not part of that tally. Let me know if you have additional questions - you can reach me directly at admin@teachspectacularscience.com.

Lots of information

This bundle had a ton of information, my students struggled a bit because of the amount of information, the amount of work and that fact that the labs where not really hands on. I struggled as a first-time science teacher that did not know much about earth and space science. I actually had to purchase a new curriculum mid year because we were having such a hard time.

Standards

NGSSMS-ESS1-4
Construct a scientific explanation based on evidence from rock strata for how the geologic time scale is used to organize Earth’s 4.6-billion-year-old history. Emphasis is on how analyses of rock formations and the fossils they contain are used to establish relative ages of major events in Earth’s history. Examples of Earth’s major events could range from being very recent (such as the last Ice Age or the earliest fossils of homo sapiens) to very old (such as the formation of Earth or the earliest evidence of life). Examples can include the formation of mountain chains and ocean basins, the evolution or extinction of particular living organisms, or significant volcanic eruptions. Assessment does not include recalling the names of specific periods or epochs and events within them.
NGSSHS-ESS2-5
Plan and conduct an investigation of the properties of water and its effects on Earth materials and surface processes. Emphasis is on mechanical and chemical investigations with water and a variety of solid materials to provide the evidence for connections between the hydrologic cycle and system interactions commonly known as the rock cycle. Examples of mechanical investigations include stream transportation and deposition using a stream table, erosion using variations in soil moisture content, or frost wedging by the expansion of water as it freezes. Examples of chemical investigations include chemical weathering and recrystallization (by testing the solubility of different materials) or melt generation (by examining how water lowers the melting temperature of most solids).
NGSSHS-ESS1-6
Apply scientific reasoning and evidence from ancient Earth materials, meteorites, and other planetary surfaces to construct an account of Earth’s formation and early history. Emphasis is on using available evidence within the solar system to reconstruct the early history of Earth, which formed along with the rest of the solar system 4.6 billion years ago. Examples of evidence include the absolute ages of ancient materials (obtained by radiometric dating of meteorites, moon rocks, and Earth’s oldest minerals), the sizes and compositions of solar system objects, and the impact cratering record of planetary surfaces.
