Earthquake Engineering Science Lab

Learning or teaching about Earthquakes? This fun lab will make the catastrophe of Earthquakes come alive for students. Students will build a structure, and test it to determine if it could withstand an Earthquake.

Included in TPT purchase:

  • Student Lab Sheets (2 pages)
  • Material List
  • Procedures

Did you know you can receive TPT credits for leaving feedback? How it Works:

Earn TpT Credits for purchases on TpT. You get one TpT Credit for every $ you spend on TpT. Thing is, you only get the Credits after you Provide Feedback -- both a fair rating and a fair comment -- on the items that you purchase. We will round up for you, too! If you provide fair feedback on a $4.75 item, you will earn 5 credits. Every 100 Credits is worth $5 that you can apply towards future TpT purchases, but there is no need to wait until you have 100 to redeem them. 50 credits is worth $2.50, for example.

NGSS4-ESS3-2
Generate and compare multiple solutions to reduce the impacts of natural Earth processes on humans. Examples of solutions could include designing an earthquake resistant building and improving monitoring of volcanic activity. Assessment is limited to earthquakes, floods, tsunamis, and volcanic eruptions.
NGSS4-ESS3-1
Obtain and combine information to describe that energy and fuels are derived from natural resources and that their uses affect the environment. Examples of renewable energy resources could include wind energy, water behind dams, and sunlight; non-renewable energy resources are fossil fuels and fissile materials.
