I love this activity. The only issue was that the answer key had errors. I had an aide grade them, so it unfortunately caused a lot of confusion for the students and we ended up having to take an extra class period to figure out why so many students did not do well on the activity.

LOVE this activity! I have used it in small group instruction and as independent work. It is hard to find objects that measure exactly to the nearest half inch or quarter inch. These are spot on! I love that the students collect their data and then organize it onto the line plot with questions to analyze the data!

Make a line plot to display a data set of measurements in fractions of a unit (1/2, 1/4, 1/8). Solve problems involving addition and subtraction of fractions by using information presented in line plots. For example, from a line plot find and interpret the difference in length between the longest and shortest specimens in an insect collection.
