Using the power of TpT Easel to create ready made, interactive activities for use

in your classroom, this resource will help build background knowledge and prepare your students for social studies.

This learning activity includes the following:

• A self-checking EASEL practice exercise (practice quiz with elaborative feedback)
• A set of EASEL slides for student retrieval (great for "Assign & Review")*
• A black-line master for student note taking plus completed notes for you the teacher

*It is easy to assign Easel student retrieval slides, then monitor student progress (and provide additional feedback) by using the "Assign & Review" tab within Easel.

It is easy to share Easel with students through Google Classroom.

1. Log into your TpT account and select an Easel activity from your “My Activities” page;
2. Click the “Assign to Students” button;
3. Use “Share on Google Classroom” assignment option in Easel to share an Easel activity with students;
4. Your students will be notified in Google Classroom that they have an assignment;
5. Each of your students will find a link to the Easel assignment in their Google Classroom;
6. When a student clicks on the link they are taken to the Easel login screen where they enter their Google credentials;
7. Each student opens the Easel assignment and completes the interactive practice activity, retrieval activity, or assessment;
8. On completing the assignment, the student clicks the “Turn In” button to submit the assignment;
9. You, the teacher, can review the assignment (perhaps add additional feedback) and ‘return’ the assignment to the student.

Don’t use Google Classroom? - It’s still easy!

1. Log into your TpT account and select an Easel activity from your “My Activities” page;
2. Click the “Assign to Students” button;
3. Click “Copy Link” to copy the link to your clipboard (you may have to click “Generate Link” first);
4. Paste the link into the assignment you created on your Learning Management System (LMS) to share with your students.

Ideas Using Our Activities

1. Share our interactive practice activities as classroom practice, homework, via personal devices, etc. In effect, students can access these practice activities anytime, anywhere they have Internet access.
2. Have students complete a practice activity every few days to activate the powerful learning strategies of retrieval practice, spaced-practice, and variable-practice. Our practice activities are complete with elaborative feedback features, including the answers to the questions, More Information feedback, Making Connections feedback, Correcting False Information feedback, and metacognitive devices such as Reflective Questions and What Did You Think? reflection questions - simply the best tools for helping students learn.
3. Add additional learning opportunity through the Retrieval Activities (Easel based or a paper-based) included with your purchase.
4. Use the practice activities, or reuse the practice activities, near the end of the semester or school year to review for finals and/or standardized tests.
5. Assign activities in the “flipped classroom” to discuss the next class period.
6. Assign activities as entry passes or exit passes (formative assessment practice).
