I use this in my class for Journaling. It's different than our ISN (interactive science journal). I'll give them a writing prompt over what we did that day or what we've been working on that week. It's good for higher order thinking and using academic vocabulary.

Normally, I give them prompts Monday - Thursday and Friday I'll give them a in class writing assignment before they turn it in that week.
