Description
Have you tried number talks in your math classroom? The focus of these number talks is calculating percentages, and they work great during a financial literacy unit to increase mental math skills and boost student confidence.
The first slides take things slow, asking for 10% of 50 and 20% of 50. The last slide asks students to find 40% of 350. You can edit all slides and add slides to fit the needs of your students.
Procedure I use in class:
- Students don't use pencils, paper or calculators.
- Students give a silent thumbs up when they have figured out the problem.
- Students can choose to share out their answers and thinking to the class.
