Description
I know that my students can always benefit from practice editing sentences and paragraphs! I created this resource to allow for additional practice editing as well as exposure to editing rules and opportunities to practice independently and with a partner. The following is included in this resource:
PowerPoint (50 slides):
-Explanations of editing rules with capitalization and punctuation
-Examples of sentences for each rule and practice
-Practice sentences containing multiple errors with corrected sentences shown
Editing Notes: Students take notes while viewing PowerPoint and add example sentence for each editing rule
Editing Checklist: Students assess each writing goal and circle a thumbs up or thumbs down to demonstrate their mastery or classmate’s mastery of the goal within the writing. Optional checklist for lines for student feedback about writing.
Editing Sentences & Paragraphs: Three pages where students correct sentences and write their own sentence needing editing and three pages where students correct a paragraph.
Editing Partner Practice: Students are told to write two sentences with specific errors (i.e. incorrect punctuation and capitalization). After writing their sentences, they trade with a partner and the partner edits and rewrites the sentences. These are open-ended and can be used multiple times!
Editing Paragraph Partner Practice: Students write a 4-5 sentence paragraph containing errors. After writing their paragraph, students trade with a partner and edit each other's writing. These are also open-ended and can be used multiple times!

Great resource for my middle schoolers with autism and intellectual disabilities!
Thank you!
I have students that can't tell where to place punctuation. This was a nice whole group review that was more enticing than worksheets. Thank you!
Very useful for the 4th graders that needed extra review.
Thanks
