In these activities, students are challenged to master the skills of editing for a specific grammar convention.
Students will read 4 short excerpts from a variety of genres, having been given a specific kind of error and how many errors to search for, with clear directions for how to mark them in order to fix them. Using these practices, students will be able to gain confidence in their proofreading skills, and thus be more successful writers.
These activities are intended for use by students who have already learned the principles of the grammar convention they are correcting. For example, a student should not be given the Editing Toolkit Practice assignment about pronoun usage without first having been taught the conventions of pronoun usage.
